In this program activity, the Interfaith Rainforest Initiative (IRI) was represented by 8 religious leaders and one IRI national facilitator. On the other side, the Deputy of Natural Resources of the New Capital City of Indonesia (IKN) was represented by Myrna A. Safitri, S.H., M.Si., Ph.D., along with two representatives from the MANKA association. The meeting began with a shared meal to foster a more friendly atmosphere and was followed by discussions that continued late into the night.

The discussions resulted in a deeper understanding of IRI’s vision and mission in the context of the local government. Key points discussed included the urgency of a religious approach in supporting local communities in preserving forests and the environment, as well as the challenges faced by indigenous communities. The event started at 20:00 WITA and concluded at 23:00 WITA in Balikpapan. This activity marks an important initial step in building closer collaboration between IRI, the government, and local communities for environmental conservation.

• Active Participation: Full engagement of all participants, including religious leaders, Myrna A. Safitri, and MANKA representatives, in the discussions, creating an effective collaborative environment.
• Integrated Religious Approach: Identification of concrete steps to integrate a religious approach into local government efforts for forest and environmental preservation.
• Recognition of Indigenous Issues: Official recognition of the issues faced by local indigenous communities by the government, with initial steps towards finding solutions.
• Follow-Up Plan: Development of a follow-up plan encompassing concrete steps in implementing environmental preservation based on shared agreements.

• Formation of Sustainable Collaboration: Initial steps towards establishing sustainable collaboration between IRI, the local government, and the MANKA association in preserving the forests and environment of Kalimantan.

These indicators reflect the expected achievements and impact of the program, which aims to strengthen collaboration among various stakeholders for environmental preservation and sustainability in the context of the development of the New Capital City of Indonesia (IKN).
